"Big Girl" Bed

Sorry this picture is dark, but there is no way I was going to disturb this little Sleeping Beauty with a flash!

Charlotte has taken right to her "big girl" bed. Last night, we put her to bed in her new room for the first time with more than a little trepidation. I laid down next to her for about ten minutes and then got up and went out. Once I left, she started singing "Old McDonald" for about twenty minutes and I got a little worried she was getting herself wound up to get up and play, but she just stayed in the bed and drifted off to sleep after a little bit. I didn't hear a peep out of her again until 8:00 this morning and she was still sitting in bed when I opened her door. This afternoon, I read her a few books in her bed and then handed her a couple more and told her goodnight. She sat in bed reading for about fifteen minutes and then passed out.

Charlotte's easy transition (at least so far) is nothing short of a miracle. I was so happy that this is going so smoothly with her that I burst out crying right after I took this picture. (Relief + pregnancy hormones = frequent emotional outbursts.)

A tender mercy for sure! Congratulations. She looks so "grown up" sleeping with her head on the pillow. She must love her room, such cute bedsheets. You were so wise to transition her before baby brother comes along. I'll keep my fingers crossed she continues to do so well. Way to go! Now go reward yourself. Sit back, relax and snack on something yummy!
