Labor Day at the Zoo + Bonus Squeaky Shoes

We went to the Houston Zoo for the first time on Labor Day. Charlotte looked like this for most of the time we were there--kind of glum. Maybe it had something to do with the stifling heat. Although the whole zoo is shaded, when it is humid and 95, it is hard to not be miserable!

She did really enjoy the Meerkats. Maybe she was wishing she could dig a hole in the cool ground and crawl in too.

The birds were all hiding out in the shady corners of their cages and sleeping. Boring!

But who needs animals to photograph when you can just take pictures of this?

"If you're not a good girl and do everything I say, you're going to have to live here with the giraffes. I mean it, Mama!"

The highlight of Charlotte's day was riding the little red train around Hermann Park again.

But you can tell the heat was really getting bad. Someone was starting to look a little crazy ...

Dalloway has the Squeaker Sneakers too! I think Doria got my mom onto them?? My big girls get a bigger kick out of them than the baby!
