First Swim of the Season

AFter more than two weeks of 80+ degrees, we broke out the Princess Pool for the first time today. Guess who thought they had died and gone to heaven ...

Unfortunately, the water was a little too cold for Little Bubba to try swimming for the first time. Don't worry, Grey--it's only going to get hotter from here!

Look What I Can Do!

Ladies and gentlemen, we've got ourselves a bona fide sitter. Hooray for Grey!

Hermann Park

One of our favorite things to do is go downtown every couple of months to Hermann Park. Saturday, it was 80, sunny, and beautiful, the ideal day for playing around in the city.

Charlotte enjoyed her first-ever game of hopscotch. Since then, she has had me draw one on the back porch and has been playing regularly.

No trip to Hermann Park would be complete without a ride on Little Red Train, or as Charlotte is now calling it, "Thomas" (as in Thomas the Tank Engine).

Rodeo Animals

The Rodeo is a big deal in Houston. Personally, I'm not a fan of watching people ride bulls for hours and then listening to the country music concert that always ensues, so I don't go in for the rodeo proper, but I really like the state-fairish stuff that goes on with it all. I didn't take too many pictures this year, but the three I got are worth displaying: Charlotte adored all the animals, especially the lambs ...

And the chicks who were just hatching out of their eggs as she looked on ...

And that ever present pet of the state fair/rodeo circuit, the Corn Dog.

Bonus material to this post: A cute picture of Baby Grey going at the core of my pear like a little piglet.

Grey's Six-Month Pics .. and Cha Too

Okay, so Grey is almost seven months old and I just got around to taking him to get his six-month pictures. I hope he will forgive me one day when he sees just how cute these are.

Miss Charlotte was in a far better mood this time than she was for her last photo shoot so this was a much more pleasant experience. Yay!

Kelly's Baby Shower

In February, my friend Desiree (pictured on the right) and I threw a baby shower for our good friend Kelly (on the left). Seriously, can you believe this girl was nine months pregnant at the time? She looked amazing. (I'm always sweaty and bloated by the time I am this pregnant. Stinks to have a baby in August.)

While decorations at the shower were minimal (mostly owing to an ice storm the day before), the food was plentiful. The buffet featured four kinds of quiche, brownies, lemon bars, mini cupcakes, two kinds of salads, punch, and a few dozen orange rolls. Yum!

February ... and March

Sorry, sorry, SORRY I have been absent for so long from the blog. Life just gets busier and busier, it seems, and time goes by so quickly that before I even know it, two months have passed, the memory card on the camera is full, and I feel overwhelmed by how far behind I am on the blogging. I'm going to be better now, promise! To make up for these past two months, please enjoy the following MEGA-blog post stuffed with pictures of my cute, chubby kids. Thanks and you're welcome.

My pretty girl has a cheesy grin, as you will see throughout this post.

Grey loves the bath almost as much as Charlotte did. We got some really cute pictures of his chubby bum here but have not posted them because of internet prowlers and also because we don't want him to hate us when he is a teenager.

Charlotte chilled with Stuart Little during her first trip to Chuck E Cheese while Mimi was in town in February. Pizza, soda, flashing lights, music, and a lot of ski ball = Charlotte in heaven.

Sweet Baby Grey in the soft Saturday morning light coming in our bedroom window. Yes, those cheeks are as squishable and kissable as they look.

Charlotte (putting a dish on Grey's head): "Baby Grey's hat!"

Practicing at Tummy Time together.

Grey started to eat food in February. So far: Oatmeal, peaches, applesauce, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas = PASS. Squash and green beans = FAIL.

More cheesy Cha-Cha.

Grey has been practicing sitting up. He hasn't quite got it yet; his big head keeps throwing him off balance and he is finding it hard to bend his chubby ham hock legs into the appropriate position. We will be there soon, though.

The only thing better than banging on a drum is banging on a drum naked.

This is how Grey gets greeted after most of his naps. Lucky boy!
