A Visit to Mamaw's

In February, we went to North Carolina so that I could attend a conference at Duke. We visited with Adam's parents and grandparents while we were there. A special part of our visit was a brief trip to Lexington, North Carolina to see Adam's maternal grandmother, Lucille Starr Frye ("Mamaw"). This was Mamaw's first time seeing Grey and first visit with Charlotte since she was less than a year old.

Mamaw, Mimi, Charlotte, and Grey.

Grey loved his Mamaw. He sat sweetly on her lap for most of the afternoon and cooed at her. Mamaw wanted to keep him!

Even though you don't own a computer and so will never see this blog, Mamaw, we love you and are sending you lots of hugs and kisses! xoxoxoxo

Atonement

Forgive me, Grandparents, for I haven't blogged. It's been two months since my last blog session.

I just got around to loading the pictures off of my camera from the last two months and am now in the process of sorting through dozens and dozens of cute ones trying to put together some new posts. I'm going to try to put one new one together every day this week to make up for the fact that I am oh so seriously behind on this. So keep checking back for more pictures and videos of your these two little munchkins all week long.

Charlotte's Snow Day

Sorry for belatedly getting around to posting pictures of Charlotte's (and Adam's) first ever snowman, but your life just is not complete without these.  Charlotte is looking quite stylish in her coat of many colors from her Nona Doria and her not-quite-so-stylish rubber boots from Wal-Mart.

It was so cold that Grey had to stay inside in his adorable bear suit.

We couldn't come up with an extra button or two pieces of coal, so these holiday-themed Hershey's Kisses would have to do for Frosty's eyes and mouth.  As you can see, Charlotte loved her new snow friend very much and pointed to him every time we left the house.

Charlotte also got her first sleigh ride over Christmas.  Its expensive to keep a horse, but Daddies are cheap so we had one of those haul Charlotte around the yard.

Success

This has been a very successful week. And I owe it all to the power of peer pressure.

One of our family goals this year was to get Charlotte potty trained. I started working on it the second Monday in January. After two days of screaming, tantrums, and soiled carpet, I gave up. It was so awful Charlotte was begging me to put a diaper back on her and I obliged. I just kept telling myself I would be okay changing her diapers until she was 12 as long as I didn't have to fight this much again with her.

Well, on Wednesday evening this week, we had a major breakthrough. We had my cousin Shelly's daughter Audrey over to play with Charlotte. Audrey is almost a full year older than Charlotte and is potty trained. When Audrey asked to go to the bathroom, Charlotte followed her in, watched what she did, and then went and got the package of Dora panties I bought for her some time ago and asked to wear them. Then she wanted to try on the potty. After three or four attempts, she figured out exactly what to do once she was on there. "Just like Audrey!" she squealed.

Charlotte has been using the toilet for three days now and she hasn't had an accident in over 24 hours. I even took her to the grocery store for an hour and a half in her new underwear today and she patiently waited to go until we got home. My sweet little girl is growing up and I'm so proud of her I could bust!
