Charlotte is a Good Girl

Charlotte is a good girl. Just look at her in her little "Gretel von Trapp" dress. She looks absolutely precious and innocent in it, even though she spit up on it six times during church and covered Mommy's skirt in curdled milk.

Charlotte is a good girl. She loves lounging in bed with Papa on Saturday mornings ... until she gets bored and starts fussing because she wants to go play with her toys.Charlotte is a good girl. She loves playing on the floor with her toys ... until she gets bored and starts fussing because she wants Mommy to pick her up.
Charlotte is a good girl. She lets Mommy take a lot of pictures of her ... until she gets bored and starts fussing because she wants to be walked around the house.Charlotte is a good girl. But sometimes being held and walked around just isn't enough to keep her happy. Rough day, Charlotte! (And a bad hair day for Mommy too.)

Google Knows

My friend Natalie introduced me to something pretty darn fun on her blog. I thought I would share this little game guaranteed to help you waste some time you could otherwise be doing something productive in since I always enjoy these kinds of things. Here's how to play: Go to Google and type in your name followed by "needs" and see what Google thinks you are lacking in your life.

According to Google, Ariel needs:

1. an actual doorway
2. a new bassist
3. a miracle
4. to go away
5. an exorcism
6. to be reminded that Pig Iron Bob was also selling our iron ore (What?!)

But Google thinks that Adam needs:

1. his phone back
2. a break
3. help
4. to play Victor
5. a nap

What isn't that funny is that Adam actually needs most of this stuff. What is funny is how many people out there are actually named Adam Needs!

Charlotte loves bathtime

Whenever Charlotte is just too cranky, the soothing sounds of the tub filling up just hit the spot.

The Rockets

To commemorate the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday today--and the exciting inauguration of our first black president tomorrow--we decided to support the African-American community by giving money to some already rich and famous black guys (and one very tall Chinese one). We went to see the Houston Rockets play downtown at the Toyota Center.
This was Charlotte's very first basketball game. It wasn't as good as watching the Duke Blue Devils play in Cameron, but it was a close second. The Rockets and the Nuggets were neck and neck until the very last few seconds when the Rockets pulled ahead. Hooray! 2nd quarter: We arrive at the game. (People with kids are almost always late for everything.) Charlotte refuses to look at us or at the camera because there is way too much going on. She especially enjoys Yao Ming, the jumbotron, the little kids with noisemakers to our side, and the old lady with the bun in front of us singing Queen's "We Will Rock You" at the top of her lungs.3rd quarter: Charlotte breaks and refuels so she can keep bringing her A-game. She gets angry when we won't give her Gatorade like the players are drinking but finally settles for breastmilk in a bottle. She gets especially mad when we try to cover up her face with the blanket and she can't see the skanky, sequin-clad Rockets dancers shaking their booties. 4th quarter: In spite of her enthusiasm, our little champ passes out cold in the last two minutes of the game, missing the Rockets' big win and the old lady with the bun's incredible victory dance to "Celebrate Good Times". (How she managed to go to sleep with all of that ruckus is way beyond me.)

Enter the Exersaucer

LOVES it. I'm only sad that it makes her look so grown up. It's all going by too fast!

Little Charlotte's New Year's Resolutions, 2009

1. Start sitting up.
2. Learn to crawl.
3. Learn to walk.
4. Grow more hair.
5. Get some teeth.
6. Start eating solid foods.
7. Stop spitting up after every meal.
8. Say "Mama" and "Papa".
9. Nap more.
10. Cry less.
11. Get even cuter ... if that's possible!

(I don't know about the rest of you, but Charlotte's list makes me feel lazy about what I've planned to do this year.)

My Beautiful Girl

I have been hoarding some of my favorite most recent pictures of Charlotte until after Christmas since I made photobooks for all of her grandparents and I didn't want them to have seen ALL the pictures ahead of time on this blog. But a few of these are just too good to not post for everyone to see ... especially this one. I just want to put kisses all over the screen whenever I look at it. Love you so, so much, baby girl!
